Teens plus loud music plus alcohol = trouble. One would think that if they were going to illegally sneak alcohol into a party, that they would be more surreptitious about it. But on the other hand, the whole problem with substance abuse is that it messes up the thinking processes in the brain, and so they probably couldn’t think it through that easily.
Neighbors complained about the loud music at a party on Kimball Road in Londonderry on Friday, May 20, 2011 at 11:42 pm. The Londonderry Police arrived within ten minutes and controlled the scene so that they could have enough time to analyze exactly what was going on and whether underage drinking was involved, and to keep the kids from sneaking away from there. At least one tried, but thought better of it and returned inside the home.
The 19 year old host at the home, Douglas A.Wintle, was arrested for Facilitating a Drug/Underage Alcohol House Party, for unlawful possession and intoxication. He was released on Saturday morning. Other youths were allowed to call their parents and were given over to their charge. An adult relative was called to secure the residence for the night.
Alcohol was also responsible for an accident on May 20, 2011, when 22-year old Kristen Beebe’s car ran off the road. The Londonderry Police called the Londonderry Fire Department at 3 a.m. who transported Ms. Beebe to the Parkland Medical Center. Ms. Beebe was charged with Driving Under the Influence of drugs or liquor, resisting arrest and four counts of simple assault. In other words, she was bombed, and not in a very good mood, and she did her best to fend off her captors. She was released on bail on Saturday morning, and she will have to appear in court on June 13, 2011.
Friday is usually a day to look forward to for a lot of people. One has to wonder whether the police and fire departments are able to do so, or if they dread the phone calls that are likely to occur.
One also has to wonder how long people will think that they cannot have a good time without drugs or alcohol, when the drugs and alcohol generally don’t really lead to a good time.
